Let's get started

Welcome to my blog!

Anybody who knows me will know that starting this blog wasn't a snap decision. I've been thinking about it for a while. I've analyzed the pros and cons. I've spent countless hours reading other people's blogs (I'm counting this as research). I've even come up with plenty of reasons not to do this - do I really have the time? what if I don't have anything to say? what if it takes over my life? will anyone read it?

But I'm just going to take a flier on this one and go for it. Why? Well, just because. Besides, if it all goes horribly wrong, I'll just blame it on the post-pregnancy hormones. (Yeah, I know the little guy's almost 11 months old, but my rule is that I get a pass for the full first year.)

One of the things that has held me up is that I don't have a cutesy schtick for this blog - yes, I'll probably talk about crafts and recipes and fashion and books, but don't think of this as a go-to resource for any of these specific topics. I don't have a political agenda (who has time?) and I'm not even that current on current affairs, so it won't be that kind of a blog. I'd love to say it's going to be a bit naughty, but I don't really have a potty mouth ... and my parents are listening! And while there will definitely be more than a few posts about my little ones and my thoughts and reactions to parenting, please, please, please don't call me a mommy blogger.

Here's what I can promise: honest, real and hopefully sometimes funny commentary on the everyday, ordinary and amazing life I live in the city with my husband and two kids. So, climb aboard, fasten your seatbelts and let's go for a ride!
