In honour of Easter, I thought I'd use today's post to talk about candy. Because that's really what this holiday is all about, right??
But first, I have a confession to make: I don't really like chocolate. Please don't judge me, it's just the way I was born. It's not that I won't eat chocolate, it's just not the first thing I reach for when I need dessert, a mid-afternoon snack or to rebalance my hormones. So usually I don't get too excited about Easter treats because more often than not, those chocolate bunnies just jump into our cupboard and hibernate for a few months. This year, however, I've discovered a few winners.

In the category of Best All-Round Easter Treat, my hands-down favourite are
Cadbury Easter Creme Eggs. In this case I can deal with the chocolate egg because it holds the most gooey, delicious inside. Bonus points for their small size (easy to hide in your purse) and the foil wrapper that can be scrunched down to almost nothing, so it's hard to prove they were ever there.

The winner of the Newly Discovered Treat is
Peeps Marshmallow Chicks. I know these have been around forever, but they've just never made it into our house until this year. In terms of quality ingredients and nutritional value, these are the lowest of the low, but they are soft and squishy and oh-so-yummy. Apparently they're virtually indestructible (thank you, Wikipedia) and people do some very strange things with them, like this
Peep Topiary.

Finally, in the category of Cutest Chocolate Animal, the award goes to this
White Chocolate Lamb from Shoppers Drug Mart. This adorable little guy is only 2.5" tall, which makes him the perfect size for the Easter Bunny to leave for Ryan. He's made of premium Belgian chocolate but it may not matter because I think he's too cute to eat.
Whatever, however and wherever you're celebrating, have a great weekend!
